Dungeon defenders how do you upgrade weapons

Posted April 11, I have a question for everyone here I know this may sound silly but what is the better way to go about upgrading weapons and armor pieces? And what gets me is how do you go about upgrading your weapons and armor pieces?

On my weapons I like to increase the attack and any additional bonus, etc Is it better to spread out the upgrades or try to focus on one area? I guess I am asking this as a general rule of thumb for the new people out there and the people who have been playing for a while and reaching end game and now want to work on boosting up their stats. Sorry if this is a dumb question to ask but its something I have always wondered about.
