Why is maxwell so slow

Doing a save copy or selecting all the geometry and pasting it into a new file often gets rid of an issue. One other thing that might be causing a problem is the lighting scenario. I am using flat planes with emitters inside the room to simulate bounced light on the ceilings and floors. The emitter is set to a very high value in my estimation. Does that seem high to you? Andrew West Posted May 22,
. Tech Hi Andrew, Which video card do you have, and have you installed the current driver? Andrew, Again, this is totally abnormal; on a typically installation there are no delays during these operations.

Our previous response when you posted on this topic: The Maxwell plugin does not consume any resources when palettes are opened and closed, or when the material representation is changed.

Andrew, There was an important fix with formZ 8. Start with a relatively simple file that reproduces your issue 2. Save the file under a new filename, close, and re-open. Does this help? Hi Andrew, I will allow Pylon to answer the "new problem" but if you can send the file as Pylon suggests, we can see what we can do to help with the original issue.

Also, which exact card do you have? It is not the Quadro fx card, is it? Andrew, Sending project files that exhibit the problem is the way to get things fixed. Sounds not good, how should V-Ray did it? My impression of Maxwell was - very nice Rhino 5 plugin, but to slow for my need. I suppose so Octane and Maxwell could be rivals.

Everyone seems to use V-Ray over here, so I became worried that Maxwell had conceded the fight. I have only been using Maxwell and love it dearly, due to the logic and language of photography Next Limit has prioritized.

I dearly hope they continue with the development of the software and plugins for Rhino. Their licensing scheme was also stupid IMO. You need to be a Member to view images or to make downloads. Best, Jason. So it does indeed seem that something is amiss with either the scene itself or more likely there are other processes on your computer that are taking up system resources while Maxwell is trying to render. The first thing I would do if you have not already done so is to disable SketchUp auto-save in the preferences.

I also disable all auto-updating software and any screen savers as well -- although I do not keep my rendering machine hooked to the internet since anti-virus software suck up too much system resources for my liking. Also, I remember that there is an issue specifically with certain AMD processors rendering scenes with r2 enabled materials much slower than Intel processors -- something to do with how the two company's vary in their optimization of certain calculations.

Common materials that use r2 are "satin" and "velvet" materials, but it can be used in "car paint" and many other types of materials A clay-render will override all material in the scene except emitters and reveal the fastest that the scene can be rendered Linked pull requests.
